People were drawing how they think they appear in the eyes of their family, their friends, and themselves. It's mediocre and only slightly true, but I suppose it belongs in here anyway. I kind of like some of the colors.
a chat log.
Pete: I stopped updating my journal, I haven't figured out why yet.And there things stand. I register for classes tomorrow and maybe when I feel a bit better about my lifestyle I will be more able to write about it.
Clifton: I've been waiting for an update
Pete: I think it had to do with too many people from different parts of my life reading it, and also my mom strongly disapproving of certain entries.
Clifton: haha
Clifton: Which ones?
Pete: Well the one with me driving drunk springs to mind.
Clifton: I don't include my family in any part of my cyberlife
Clifton: ah yes
Clifton: My parents know of my offchild site only
Pete: Well I usually am completely open with my parents but in this case I think I made a mistake.
Clifton: yeah . . . that happens
Pete: But it wasn't just that either, because it had been getting crappier for a good long time. It wasn't nearly as useful after I stopped doing the Flash comics.
Pete: Bah, anyway, I am still thinking of starting it back up in some way. It was really awesome while it lasted.

Here's all the doodles I made in Jersey that were worth holding on to. Looks like I'm getting back some of that psychotic energy from high school.
visiting family in New Jersey, woo!
Bye Internet, see you Tuesday evening.
oh no not again!
TOO MUCH COFFEE DAY!!
I swear, there is definitely something wrong with me. I only had about four tablespoons' worth of grounds, and the rest is going to waste.

somebody please change the sign to say "chances sports bar and groundbreaking art salon"
you could put "dance club" in there somewhere too, if you want. here are the results of tonight's meeting of some of the greatest creative minds in Portland.
I will begin with the work of my esteemed colleage Morgan, who has brought a fresh perspective to the field of zoological illustration:
Tom also stopped by to make these thought-provoking contributions:
(I should mention for posterity that the above image contained a slightly different caption up until I beat that pool shark guy by sinking seven balls in two rounds and then me and Pat veritably trounced him and his buddy.)
And now here are my own humble submissions:
(this is the first drawing of the night; I left it as it was in order to demonstrate the rigorousness of the testing to which all of this art has been submitted in order to guarantee its quality.)
(me and Pat both won free beers for beating those guys at pool)

brushpens and photo references
back on the brushpen again
Looking through my old art again, I realized that all of high school was a progression toward increasingly smaller pictures, and I never fully taught myself to work big. Then I realized I have a big huge chalkboard hanging over my bed, and I never even use it. Here's my results:

Life-size self-portrait:
What I learned is that I'm not so bad off if my whole arm is involved, or just my fingers -- it's the midrange, when I have to work with my wrist and hold my elbow steady, that trips me up. Look at the hands in this picture, for example -- and to a lesser degree, the face. Very interesting stuff.

foolin' 'round with the ol' brushpen
Chronological order; you can kind of see me getting back into my niche.
Middle one looks like JJ Jameson.

I look funky this evening.
I'm always amazed at how goofy I can appear when tired and/or poorly groomed.
Pete: a retrospective
I just got done redrawing some old pictures that I dug up for posting in a thread about embarrassing art. I'm not all that embarrassed by them really, but they're good examples of why I never fit in very well in high school. In case you can't get to the original thread, here's just my post.
And here are the updated versions of some of this weird shit that I used to draw in my notebooks.

H.P. Lovecraft fanart
I've been reading The Call of Cthulhu lately, in eBook form on my PDA. Today I made a quick illustration, also on my PDA. It's an interesting medium, a bit like MSPaint only tiny and with a stylus. Anyway, I kind of like how it came out and I don't quite feel up to a full-on journal entry, so there you have it.
hallowwen party
Black lights? Boris Karloff? Everclear Jell-o shots? Yes, please!
(Hallowwen = the last Saturday night preceding Halloween. Journal entries to resume tomorrow.)
